Autodesk AutoCAD software is a commercial computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting software application. Developed and marketed by Autodesk, AutoCAD was first released in December 1982 as a desktop app running on microcomputers with internal graphics controllers. Before AutoCAD was introduced, most commercial CAD programs ran on mainframe computers or minicomputers, with each CAD operator (user) working at a separate graphics terminal. AutoCAD is also available as mobile and web apps.Read more: Autodesk AutoCAD Software Overview, AutoCAD software has been in use for over 40 years and has created the design patterns that are incorporated into most of today’s architecture and engineering works. Automated 3D architectural and engineering design is now almost universal in engineering circles; in fact, most of the world’s tallest buildings are designed using AutoCAD.Whether you are a graphic designer, architect, mechanical engineer, engineer, home renovator, artist, developer, or photographer, AutoCAD is an essential tool. AutoCAD is an AutoCAD 2017 package and license comes as a standalone installer or can be installed on Microsoft Windows systems and Mac operating systems.Like most CAD software programs, you can work with AutoCAD by using menus, toolbars, and various keyboard shortcuts. These shortcuts are assigned during the initial training. As your skills improve, you can use the keyboard or select various shortcut tools from the toolbar to complete the task quickly.A variety of applications and functions can be configured by using the Options dialog box, which can also be accessed by using the icon on the right side of the title bar. Before AutoCAD, most companies had a separate CAD operator at each terminal with the added inconvenience of having to move from person to person. Working on a network enables multiple users to work on the same file simultaneously. AutoCAD has many online features such as mirroring. If you don’t feel comfortable with the new interface, you

XML file (.dwg and.dxf)
Some customers of autodesk products report that a file exists with the extension XAR, although the format was discontinued in 2003. This is an AutoCAD XML-based file format using a different extension.XAR.
AutoCAD allows the creation of hierarchical structures, called drawing object trees, via an object hierarchy system (OHS). It was developed as an alternative to the Windows.DAT files which are hierarchical storage systems. Object trees store drawing objects in a tree-like structure. AutoCAD files may use the Object Tree to organize and store information about the drawing objects.
AutoCAD’s user interface provides the ability to customize. This is done via settings files or registry entries. The software contains many options for customization, such as via the Windows Registry and a file called Setup.ini, which may be modified by the user. User settings are stored in the computer’s Windows registry.
In Autodesk products prior to Autodesk AutoCAD 2014, these registry entries were stored in the key HKLM\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\Version.

3. Click on the ‘Choose’ button in the lower-left corner of the window (2)
4. After the DWG file has been imported, the drawing window will be updated with a list of the imported drawings, as shown in 3 above.
5. To import one or more drawings at once, select all the DWG files from the list and click on the ‘Update’ button (4).
6. If the files that you selected are part of a larger drawing, you will be asked to select the corresponding drawing to import (5)
7. Once all of the files have been imported, you will be prompted to validate the import. Click the ‘Validate’ button to confirm the import process.
8. The imported drawings are now available in the drawing window.
Modify your drawing
Now that your drawing is imported, you can modify it as if it was a native drawing in Autodesk Design Suite.
We have selected a few of the most common options in the following example:
